GROW takes the practice of theatre professionals: their skill, commitment and desire to achieve brilliance on stage and injects it into learning.
We encourage a greater practice of drama in schools, taking it from the periphery of education and bringing focus to it.
In our Workshops, Masterclasses and Inset for students and teachers, we aim to:
- Develop creativity and independent thinking, unearthing potential
- Boost learning with vitality and enjoyment
- Create a level playing field for all students including G&T, SEN and EAL
- Raise attainment, aspirations and confidence levels
- Encourage staff and students to take risks together
- Dispel the fear of drama - promoting artistic engagement
- Bring greater discipline for pupils
- Accelerate learning - pursuing pace, depth and breadth
- Enhance knowledge of social & cultural issues
- Provide a positive impact on life beyond school not ordinarily related to drama
Drama naturally invites high levels of personal involvement and dedication, which results in ‘effective practice’
Drama invites high levels of encouragement and acclaim, which champions a ‘praise culture’ in schools
