what is grow and what do we do

GROW takes the practice of theatre professionals: their skill, commitment and desire to achieve brilliance on stage, and injects it into learning and training.

We encourage a greater practice of drama and film in schools, businesses and organisations, taking it from the periphery of education and bringing focus to it.

In our Workshops, INSETS and Training programmes, we aim to:

  • Develop creativity and independent thinking, unearthing potential
  • Boost learning with vitality and enjoyment
  • Create a level playing field for all students including G&T, SEN and EAL
  • Raise attainment, aspirations and confidence levels
  • Encourage staff and students to take risks together
  • Dispel the fear of drama - promoting artistic engagement
  • Bring greater discipline for pupils
  • Accelerate learning - pursuing pace, depth and breadth
  • Enhance knowledge of social & cultural issues
  • Provide a positive impact on life beyond school not ordinarily related to drama

Drama naturally invites high levels of personal involvement and dedication, which results in ‘effective practice’ The Process

Drama invites high levels of encouragement and acclaim, which champions a ‘praise culture’ in schools The Product

Carolina is passionate about bringing creativity into the classroom and clearly demonstrates the benefits to all pupils. Her enthusiasm for her work is infectious - she's a great way to start the term - and our teachers were all busy using her strategies in their classrooms straight away.

to play needs much work but when we experience the work as play, then it is not work anymore, a play play - peter brook, theatre director/practitioner
