GROW STUDIO offers three exciting and engaging practical Masterclasses & INSET for DRAMA GCSE & A LEVEL that look at creating, exploring and analysing elements of drama and how the resulting outcomes can be communicated to an audience.
Each Masterclass introduces a huge range of fresh and dynamic devising and interpretive techniques that quickly enhance drama skills for students and teachers alike, giving them the confidence and know-how to create or guide a spontaneous, relevant and unique piece of theatre.

We will take you through a journey of:
PLANNING, DEVELOPING, REHEARSING, PERFORMING and EVALUATING
STUDIO 1 – Students - Devising ‘Starting with nothing’
This workshop will cover:
- Using strategies to explore themes and text
- Interpreting source material & stimuli
- Honing improvisation skills
- Developing an ensemble & physical language
- Integrating social, cultural and historical contexts
- Devising, rehearsing and staging a piece of new work
STUDIO 2 – Students - Text ‘Starting with something’
This workshop will cover:
- The PROCESS - understanding themes concepts and issues in a piece
- The PRODUCT- where these understandings are expressed and how to demonstrate/perform them
- How to respond with knowledge and understanding to plays & characters
- Comparisons between texts and dramatic styles, times and cultures
- Artistic evaluation and analysis
- Script notation and terminology
- Exploring and interpreting the text or source material
- Understanding genre
- Stagecraft
FULL DAY COURSES IN SCHOOL / HOLIDAY TIME
STUDIO 3 – Students - Specialised Performance Support - ‘Starting from scratch’
As a theatre company GROW can also provide professional practitioners that will introduce and guide participants through the technical and design aspects of theatre production.

STUDIO 4 – Teachers - ‘Techniques for your toolbox’
Grow invites drama teachers to join us on a one-day INSET course that will look at the above but from a teacher’s perspective. Grow trainers take their own professional experience of working with high profile theatre and film professionals and share the many techniques, ideas and exercises to enhance and revitalize your classes for GSCE/A LEVEL drama.
