The school play occupies a central role in the school calendar
Putting on a school play is a great opportunity for unrivalled ensemble learning that actively promotes a sense of belonging and self worth for the student, staff and school.
In the theatre world a show would employ a Writer, Director, Producer, Set & Costume Designer, Musical Director, Lighting Designer, Production Manager, Stage Manager and Casting Director in the hope of audience & critics judging it as a great piece of work.
For a schoolshow ONE teacher usually covers all these roles. Talk about multi-tasking!
GROW PLAYHOUSE draws from a wealth of professional theatre experience to offer teachers ‘A Complete How to..?’ course covering all aspects of DIRECTING & PRODUCING A SCHOOL PLAY, that looks at:
- Devising
- Scripts
- Adaptation
Each teacher will come away with a DIRECTOR’S BIBLE full of ideas, techniques, and exercises taking them step by step from rehearsal to performance, giving them the confidence and knowledge to produce a high quality and effective show using simple resources. This will also include:
- A timetable for your rehearsal
- How to best use your time and budget
- A bank of plays for any number of students
- How to access free resources in your local area
- Understanding the different production roles
- Involving students in producing and managing the show
